On October 1, 2021, the Board of Water Supply, County of Kaua'i appointed Joseph “Joe” E. Tait as the 6th Manager and Chief Engineer of the Department of Water.
As manager, Joe is responsible for day-to-day operations and organizational improvement experience for the community of Kaua'i.
Prior to the Department of Water, Mr. Tait has served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California and has managed organizational competitiveness programs and operating improvement projects throughout the western U.S. from Anchorage to Salt Lake City and Los Angeles to Honolulu. He has also served on public utility and water industry association national boards such as the American Water Works Association, AWWA Research Foundation and the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies.
Our future will continue to be filled with new and exciting challenges. The Department of Water is prepared to meet everyday challenges that help us chart our path to evaluate water systems and implement plans to ensure that our water systems continue to operate effectively for the next 20 years and beyond.
We are dedicated to meeting and satisfying the needs of our customers, and our community. Providing excellent Customer Service is also an important part of a successful organization and you can do your part by using our precious drinking water wisely and not wastefully. We are continually improving effective communication to keep you informed with our operational activities and our water quality reports.
We look forward to collaborating with many levels of governmental, private sectors and the community so that we can provide safe, affordable drinking water to current and future residents of Kaua'i.
