REMINDER: Enter to win a 50-gallon rain barrel from DOW
LĪHUE – The Department of Water (DOW) reminds residents that thereʻs still time to enter the April grand prize drawing to win a 50-gallon rain barrel. Three (3) rain barrels will be given out, in honor of Earth Day, which is Tuesday, April 22, 2025. Entries will be accepted through the end of April, with a limit of one entry per household/entity. The contest drawing will be held on April 30, 2025.
What is a rain barrel? A rain barrel is a container that captures and stores rainwater from the roof. The collected rainwater is a valuable source for nonpotable purposes such as gardening. DOW encourages water conservation outdoors by using collected rainwater for landscaping needs.
Who can apply?
- Kauaʻi households, businesses, schools, and organizations.
- Applicants must be 19 years or older.
- Applicants must arrange their pickup and delivery.
To participate in the rain barrel giveaway, applicants may visit the DOW office to fill out an entry ticket. The office is located at 4398 Pua Loke St. in Līhue.
While there, consider donating to DOWʻs month-long Earth Day Food Drive for the Hawaiʻi Food Bank and the Kauaʻi Independent Food Bank. The donation of non-perishable food items helps to reduce food waste in Kauaʻi County. Checks will also be accepted and should be made out to Kauaʻi Independent Food Bank and/or Hawaiʻi Food Bank.
